Discover Madrid in 72 Hours

This AvidTravellers Madrid check out is jam-packed with personal comments and terrific experiences. Here is a summary of the journeys discoveries:

Late in 2024 a fast 72-hour getaway to Madrid with pals was the perfect excuse to look into the city's rich heritage. Our hotel, positioned in the heart of the city on Cal base to discover Madrid's iconic landmarks and savour its gastronomic thrills. As we wandered through the city's vibrant plazas, we absorbed the transmittable energy and historic significance that surrounded us.

Our group's varied preferences caused various activities. Suzanne and Richard started the very firstday 1 evening with a memorable dinner at Bodega de los Secretos, a relaxing, centuries-old restaurant loaded with beauty. The next my wife and I joined a tapas and white wine walking tour led by the enthusiastic Mario. We checked out a number of regional hotspots. I was faScinated by the Meson de Champinon, a bar restaurant which serverd mushrooms and only mushrooms.

Day three was all about cooking, with Pamela and Bill arranging a paella masterclass at the luxurious Ritz Mandarin Oriental. Chef Oliver Menendez guided us through the intricacies of making traditional Valencian paella and black rice with squid and lobster. The experience was paired with tastings of regional sherries and wines, making it one of the trip's highlights.

We settled the weekend with a visit to Teatro Flamenco Madrid. This intimate location showcased the raw feeling and appeal of flamenco dancing, providing a best cultural capstone.

Throughout the journey, we took pleasure in extraordinary meals at regional dining establishments like Casa Verona and Casa Alberto, where we indulged in genuine Spanish meals such as anchovies in olive oil, croquettes, and even the famed calamari sandwich. The Mercado de San Miguel was another standout, using a look into Spain's abundant culinary customs.
